Well, they told me I'm supposed to tell you 16 random things about me. Why 16? Why not 15 or 10? Whatever... here it is.
.I am as obstinate a person as you may encounter few people in this life (or any other, for that matter). Eventually I am proven to be right in my assumptions and in such occasions it is said to be a quality or a trace of character. I doubt it. Most of the time, is just a nuisance.
.I love music and am very eclectic on it, ranging from Trash Metal to Debussy, Andrew Lloyd Weber to Folk songs, and World Music to Techno. No matter what it is you want to play me on your iPod, I’ll give it a shot. Maybe in the head. Yours.
.I like my drinks. Dry Martinis "were created" for me and I enjoy experimenting on them, with several variations on its composition. Wine is a whole world by itself and you can experience a lot of different sensations on a single bottle, let alone different kinds. I came to experiment with scotch (all the way, from bad to better) but now I’m a pickier drinker. You won’t see me sloshed, though.
.I’ve been SCUBA diving since I was 14 because of Jacques Cousteau’s series The Undersea Discoveries. Diving long enough to see the immense impact of new technologies and materials in it. Also to verify that what was once taken as a very serious activity, now is deriving to a franchise-like accreditation system. Hope that this won’t eventually spoil the fun.
.I can go to great lengths and endure reasonable degrees of frustration trying to achieve something I deem worthy. Don’t ask me, however, to put on a happy face while I’m at it.
.I am a newbie photographer and started photographing out of love, to be with someone I cared deeply. So, every shot taken aimed to show her what was saw and carried a bit of caring in it. I listened carefully to more experienced people, trying to improve how to register it.
.I’ve travelled a little around, mostly to common overseas destinations. I know almost all my country and a bit of others. Enough to know I have plenty of time to check what I missed (and come back to see again things already seen) and still know very little at the end.
.I believe in other existence planes. For one simple reason: life is just too short to learn every thing and to evolve ourselves to become minimally interesting in a cosmic sense. It doesn’t matter, though. Time will tell the truth, anyway – willing or not – so why waste time discussing it?
.Dumb people and subjects bore me to tears. I need intelligence and recognize its existence in different ways. And no… a good memory doesn’t make you smart. It’s the use you do, not what you know.
.I’m an ambivalent carnivore. I understand the right to exist of a bunch of delicious creatures roaming the earth and am willing to co-exist with most of them. Especially if they’re on a platter. Grated. With cheese dressing and mashed potatoes. Or, as a friend of mine once said: “I hate cows. So I eat every one of them I find”.
.I’m mostly a dog person but I like most domestic animals, including fishes, horses, birds and ferrets. I started to understand cats a little better and found some things on them that are actually likable. Still, dogs rule!
.Some years ago my father used do send me to “spend some time” at some friends farm, as a “vacation”. I jest and say that he hired me as help to his pals. This gave me some knowledge of a kind of life I learnt to prize: the simple things, done with your own hands, for long day hours, under some rather scorching sun. And also to tame, care for herds, ear mark cattle and cool stuff like that.
.I like shooting targets and am acquainted to some different types of fire arms. For a while, I used it as stress reliever but now it’s not something I practice anymore.
.I also used to play the guitar (both acoustic and electric) and some people said I was not as bad as they come. I regret having set this practice aside and tried sometime ago to get back to it. It seems that “re-learning” it’s almost as hard as doing it the first time. And, given it yet another try, probably I’ll find it harsher. Figures.
.I consider myself to be a quick learner and, actually, this may be true if the subject is appealing enough. Conversely, if the theme is uninteresting…
.At the end of my turn, when everything is down to weight and measure, I expect just one thing: that, somewhere, somehow, someone says that something I did made some kind of a difference. To anyone. Just one. And that it was good.
