“The negative is comparable to the composer’s score, and the print to its performance”
Ansel Adams
I've read lots of quotes from famous photographers, but this one really resonated with me and it still does. What comes out of the camera is the musical score, but then there is the freedom to interpret that raw data, and create beyond the original image. So my images range from SOOC to extensively post-processed and manipulated. I've established Talking Digital Photography site where I am collecting together all the articles I have published online together with smaller Blog posts of images not always posted here on Flickr. You'll find articles such as:
Painting with Light
Ode to Ansel Adams
Ivy Leaves in B&W:
a 6 part Lensbaby Series (including 3 main optics)
Chasing the late light at F2.8
Playing with the White Balance
When the Camera Can't Quite Cope!

Leaves in the Sunshine:
Seeing the World in Black and White?
I live in rural Aberdeenshire Scotland and shoot the landscape, seascape and local places around me. I also shoot 'still life' and macro ... anything and everything that catches my eye or imagination. I don't shoot people or urban life, or use Long Exposure or night shooting. I have a growing collection of lenses, mostly attached to Sony bodies.
My general equipment:
Sony RX100 and RX100m3 (my point-and-shoot pocket cameras)
Sony RX10m3 for landscape and zoom
Sony NEX-6. and NEX-7 My main camera bodies, that combines ease of use with excellent quality photos. So light-weight - perfect for me! Sony have stopped producing them, so I have collected several bodies. With them I use mainly Sony e-Mount lenses.
Sony A77ii - the largest and heaviest camera body I have. I use it with the Sony A mount 100mm F2.8 Tele-macro lens
Specialist equipment:
Infrared converted cameras: Nikon D80, Nikon D90, Sony a5000 (590nm, 720nm, 850nm)
Lensbaby (mounted on NEX-6) Composer Pro 2 and "double glass", Sweet 50, Edge 80 optics
Lenses
Sony e-Mount 30mm Macro lens
Sony E-Mount 55-210mm telephoto lens
Zeiss Touit 2.8/12 e-Mount lens
Zeiss 50mm Makro lens
Sony A mount 100mm F2.8 Tele-macro lens
