Dec 3, 2012- After many years and many views, I've declined the PRO account renewal and thinned out my Flickr account. Posting may be sparse, but do message, if you'd like to keep up.

Often, an artist's statement is a long-winded, written apology for not creating better visual art. I'll try to keep the self-important blubbering to a bare minimum. See the work and decide for yourself.

Flickr isn't my portfolio; it's my good, my works-in-progress, and my not-so-good, all mashed on top of one another. Its a proving ground, a place to throw concepts on the wall and see what has merit and what is hare-brained.

Thanks to the lovely ArtLibre group for the Pro account on 9/12/07. Quite a surprise and such a treat! See the contest results here.

I often wonder, as I look at his photos, if DYMK is aware of his immense talent. I often wonder, as I look at his photos, if DYMK is aware of his immense talent. I am in awe of what he does with it, yet, I see his humble comments and praise for everyone else as if I have to scream at him and point out his great work. You see, the talent of a photographer is to breath through the lens (and keep the fogging it up to a minimum) and capture the way that this breath envelops the scene. Yes, there is a prefer use of film, chemicals, and other esoterics that make him happy. Let him play. The magic is reached when someone can present an image and let us forget about the medium (and its various processing) to leave the scene spotless for our imagination to take over. In the way of «The Matrix»'s "there is no spoon," the magic that DYMK reaches is that "there is no camera," as to me, the talent of a photographer is to learn the ins/outs of the imperfect instrument, and then make it disappear. DYMK achieves that with ease and enjoyment... and just as importantly, with a sense of modesty that is rare.
