I am often asked 'did you photoshop that pictures'? Of course I photoshopped that image! I reckon there are people that can get an image exactly perfect in the camera, for them, but I'm not that person.

For me, there are two parts of the joy of photography: The first is the taking the image, the surroundings, the companionship of those with me, or if I'm alone, the reveling in God's creation and second the joy of sitting at my computer and creating the final image in the way that I feel at the moment.

Those that usually ask the photoshop question are suggesting that the image isn't real or I cheated. That is for the individual to decide about their creations. If your imagery is to reveal an exact duplicate of the conditions, then how I work is not going to be real for you. My imagery isn't real, it did not really exist in nature, rather it is something that at the time of the image and at the time of processing swirled around in my mind, taking into account books, images, stories, music I am listening to or have listened to in the past that I have experienced over a lifetime. It is as close as I have come to creating from scratch a totally unique creation.

So while the images here are not pure, exact duplicates of the time and event, they are my thoughts on and of the time and events; my retelling of history, of a deep seated desire to have been and be in different times and places.

I first became acquainted with Steve’s work by viewing some of his wonderful waterfall images on his stream. Having been to many of these falls I have an appreciation for the physical effort it takes to get to them, and having seen them I found Steve’s point of view in his images very interesting. I’m sure however that Steve sees beauty around him with each step to the falls. Since then, I have followed his photo stream with interest. Steve is a very fine photographer and often uses post processing effects to make them even more interesting, enjoyable, and touching. I enjoy his willingness to use these resources in his expressions. He displays a wide range of photographic abilities on his stream and openly shares his process to help others. He is a great source of knowledge for me. More importantly than images, I enjoy Steve’s wit, humor, emotion, and passion in everything he posts. Above all else, his devotion to family and his beliefs! I am honored to have him as a friend!
