Why these pictures?

Informed by growing up in densely urban Kyiv (Ukraine), political involvement, and journeys far afield. I choose subjects and themes of socio-economic contrasts, urban environments, and the 'easily overlooked' ...

My primary ongoing project is called regular/irregular; it deals with the seemingly mundane and quotidian. My other series include unceded, icycles, and charred. A more recent project I'm polishing up is quiet earth

I keep my eyes open and my cameras close by. I taught myself photography by tinkering with old lenses. And though I am a bit color-blind and a bit near-sighted, I think that may actually help me ...

My main camera is the medium format Pentax 645N.

Some other cameras I use - Rolleiflex TLR (ca.1939), Pentax K-5 DSLR.
