Dillard University
Drag to set position!
Born from the union of Straight College and New Orleans University, Dillard University is Louisiana's oldest HBCU. We are a private liberal arts university located in New Orleans. Our students gain pride and purpose because of the social capital they build with Dillard leaders, faculty and upwardly mobile alumni. Some of our notable alumni include: the first African American chair of the Federal Elections Commission, Shana Broussard; Pulitzer Prize winning poet Jericho Brown; university presidents Ruth Simmons and Berenecea Johnson Eanes; New York Times best-selling author and journalist Lisa Frazier Page; jazz legend Ellis Marsalis; actor/comedian Garrett Morris; Harlem Globetrotters Billy Ray Hobley and Ariel Mitchell; Louisiana's first African American Supreme Court justice, Revius Ortique; "The Doctors" co-host Nita Landry; and the first African American governor of Louisiana, P.B.S. Pinchback (Straight).
