The primary mission of the IIT Downtown Campus Library is to support the information needs of current faculty, students, and staff of two principal programs housed at Illinois Institute of Technology's Downtown Campus: the Chicago-Kent College of Law and the Stuart School of Business.

The general goals of the Library are:

* To support the curricular and faculty research needs of the College of Law & the Stuart School of Business;

* To work with the other IIT Libraries to support the other IIT programs in the downtown campus area, particularly the Masters of Public Administration (MPA) and the Institute of Design;

* To develop the collections of the Library in support of faculty and student research;

* To help meet the information needs of local IIT alumni, the Chicago legal and business communities, and the general public;

* To obtain needed materials for our primary clientele from all available sources and to refer other clientele to outside sources when we do not have the information they seek;

* To treat information requests with the utmost confidentiality;

* To play an active role in promoting interlibrary cooperation; and

* To promote information literacy and academic scholarship.

To meet these goals, the Library strives to provide the best possible service to all who need our collections, with the understanding that primary clientele are our first priority. We recognize that our work and priorities ultimately support the academic mission of IIT. Each individual who uses the Library can expect the Library to provide: a diverse collection of information resources, a pleasant environment in which to use the resources, and a knowledgeable and courteous staff.
