Hello, my name is Collin Chua. I live in the sunny side of Singapore. Being a very warm climated country and being a warm guy like myself, sometimes it is very difficult for me to adapt. I sweat quite a lot when it gets really hot. But air-conditioning helps, most of the time.

Ha ha, just kidding :)

But seriously, photography is my main hobby and one my life's greatest passion. It helps me to become a keen observer in this world - Seeing changes and capturing one of a lifetime shot that will not happen again in this theatrical play of the universe.

I believed when I reached my old age all those photographs which I have previously shot in my younger days will become my fondest of memories; reminding me of the people, the living things and the places I had briefly interacted in this limited lifetime. Through photography my life is not merely a passing passage, but a fulfilling experience.

I am striving to attain the perfect chiaroscuro of life through my camera lens.

But still, taking photograph under a hot sun can be a bitter-sweet experience.

UPDATE 1:

I am now getting back into 35mm film photography and will try to pursue in this direction as often as I could, time-wise and cost-wise (hey, film and developing fee can be costly, if you shoot often in the long run). But I will still continue to shoot digital (hence my nick, DSLRMAN, still valids).

UPDATE 2 (10-04-2010):

After briefly interacted with different types of vintage cameras, I am now focusing on FSU (Former Soviet Union) rangefinders and various types of medium format cameras, especially the TLRs. I am planning to develop my own C-41 film; goodbye photo developer shops, I just wanna be self-sufficient and independent. My developing stuffs will be arriving ETA next week. Hoorah.

UPDATE 2 (06-05-2010):

My 2 dream cameras: A Leica M7 rangefinder with 50mm F/1.4 Summilux lens, and a Rolleiflex 2.8 FX TLR. I almost went bankrupt having all my previous cameras and gears aquisition. These 2 cameras will always, always, be, in my dreams. For now.

UPDATE 2 (22-06-2010):

I am currently pursuing the primodial state (hahaha) of photography by pursuing the vintage image quality of photographs. I draw inspirations from the nostalgic by-gone era to improve my photography, vintage style. Anyway, getting a little jaded with my previous digitally austere colour-vibrancy-everything, and sharpness-everything; churning out aimlessly from my previous digital photography endevours. But when all these's done, I will revert. Hopefully not. Never say never...we'll see...

UPDATE 2 (09-08-2010):

Hmm, it seems my vintage-style photography antics is not waning - in fact, its growing!! Recently I managed to acquire a few (3 units) of Barnack Leica rangefinders, a couple of extra Leica LTM lenses for spares. Yet to commission them for operations but somehow I just felt it may be overkilling for my modus operandi. Perhaps I will commission them only for special occasions in the future. Right now I will gladly just take out any of my FSU rangefinders in my arsenal box (ahem, I mean my dry-box), and go out for any other days to prowl the street. Thwat! (the oh-so familiar sound of a loud shutter release of a typical FSU camera) The satisfying sound of capturing a scene in a limited eternity. A paradox?? Blah...

UPDATE 2 (19-03-2011):

Due to work commitment with no time for any photography activities I seriously missed all my cameras. Especially all my russian beauties - Fed-1, Zorki-3, Moskva-5, etc. are jailed in my dry-box waiting for me to capture beautiful photos. I seriously missed the "tractor"-class shutter snap sound exude that was made during the era of the Soviet industrialization.
