I like photography, especially those pictures that reveal the "eye of the photographer" - that special detail, color, mood, shadow, that most ordinary people just pass by.

In the analog camera days, I used to have several camera bodies and lenses (mostly Pentax). Currently, I use a Canon PowerShot SD700i, which I consider superb - compact, very good image quality, it has most of the manual controls you normally need. The rest has to be done by the photographer's eye anyway ;-)...

In Sept. 2007 I bought a Panasonic FZ50, which has two features I have missed in the Canon: Shooting RAW mode, and a 12x zoom. More recently, I hae been shooting with a Panasonic TZ5, which I absolutely love; even when carrying both, I find myself using only the TZ5.

If you like my photography, you may purchase some of my photos or a book with a personal selection at QooP.

I also like travelling, which I always use as an opportunity to photograph; here is where I have already been:

Daniel Schwabe's flickr score: 3344 (old, hasn't been updated for a long time).

Several people have been gracious enough to add me as a contact, for which I am deeply honored and grateful. For reasons of time, I don't reciprocate very often. But I do keep many many RSS feeds of people that have me as contact, and I try to check their photostreams regularly.

I first contacted Daniel on one of his B&W landscape photographs and have been a fan of his photos ever since. I find his work both masterful and creative. Additionally, he always knows how to compose his shots so border elements do not distract and subject lines have a purpose, everything flows smoothly throughout the frame. His ability to capture reflections and abstract shapes is particularly impressive, and leaves me wondering how he did it. That is always the mark of good photographer.

Daniel Schwabe has "the eye"- he has an uncanny ability to recognize the value inherent in a particular scene and to capture that scene and craft it into an image that is a thing of beauty. Perhaps the most amazing thing about Daniel Schwabe's artistry is the variety of his subject matter. He glides easily from landscape to abstract to portraiture, instilling in each his fine sense of what is good in an image.
