Dr. Mark Saunders, MD, OB/GYN: Road to an Excellent Gynecologist and Obstetrician

Dr. Saunders is a well-respected board certified obstetrician and gynecologist that has been practicing in the American Fork area for over 17 years. Prior to his practice, Dr. Saunders served a full time mission in Argentina. He is still fluent in Spanish to this day.

Dr. Saunders began his education by first attending The Medical College of Wisconsin from 1987-1991. He then served as a transitional resident from 1991-1992 at St Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Dr. Saunders went on to residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology in Creighton University School of Medicine from 1992-1995 in Omaha Nebraska. He served as chief resident there in 1994-95. Since that time, he has been residing in the Pleasant Grove and American Fork area.

Maintaining the philosophy, “to treat every patient as though she is the only one” has made him a favored gynecologist in the Utah County area. His core business values of knowledge and compassion work hand-in-hand to provide the best care possible. He also strongly believes that in most cases, it is best to “let mother nature take her course” when it comes to his patients delivering vaginally. Except of course in certain circumstances where intervention is prudent and necessary.

Demonstrating his knowledge, capability and expertise, Dr. Saunders has delivered over 3,600 babies while maintaining a very low C-Section rate. He cares for normal and high risk pregnancies as well as offering a full range of gynecology and initial infertility care. He is actively involved in women’s health studies. His patients have been included in over 35 national and international studies.

Inside the Life of the Gynecologist

On a personal level, Dr. Saunders enjoys mountain biking, running, and other outdoor activities with his family. He and his wife, Sheila, are the proud parents of 6 children. Dr. Saunders is also involved with women’s health studies as an active women’s health researcher. He takes the time to really listen to all of his patients’ needs and adjust their care accordingly.
