EMS History
Dr. Mo first entered ambulance service in 1969 as an ambulance driver for Billy Joe Emerson at Emerson & Son Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Arkansas while he was attending nearby Arkansas State University.
He was a student in Jonesboro's first EMT class in 1971-72 held at St. Bernard's Hospital. He left Jonesboro to work for Griffin-Leggett Funeral Home in Little Rock, Arkansas for seven years, later becoming an instructor at the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science 1978-1982.
He re-entered emergency medicine in 1981 in Waxahachie, Texas where he worked as an EMT for Daniel's EMS there. He became assistant manager in 1982, and was moved to Waco, Texas on November 22, 1982 and became the Executive Director of Daniel EMS. He established the first full paramedic level EMS service in Waco.
He began working on his MS in Health Care Administration at Southwest Texas Statue University, and after that, he earned a PhD in Health Education at Texas A&M University. He established the Scott & White EMS Education Program in Temple, Texas and trained EMTs and Paramedics in 12 surrounding counties. In 1994, he was named by the Texas Department of Health as EMS Administrator of the year. He was also named an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Texas A&M University. He left there in 1996 and became a tenured professor at Baylor University where he specializes in Human Performance Improvement using emerging online training technologies.
