Abbate's photography captures urban voids and absences - empty and overlooked pockets of the city. The treatment is aesthetically refined yet deadpan, the atmosphere at times bleak, eerie or awkward.

A quietness inhabits the landscape, a noticeable stillness occupied by sometimes menacing buildings and fixtures, scales and lengths.

Objects of urban waste form their own assemblages. Ruins and relics coexist with steroidal new architectures in a suspiciously polite suburbia.
