I'm a science geek to the core, but I love to indulge in the limitless potential of the arts, and photography is one of my favorite forms of artistic expression. I like not having to worry about whether my rendition of, say, a horse will actually look like a horse to anyone else, or whether they'll think it's some mutant cat-creature; if you take a photo of a horse, it's going to look like a horse, and so you can concentrate on the emotions and ideas conveyed by the angle, the setting, the tones, the spacing.

I also like to take photos because I'm very shy and tend to talk in circles when I try to tell a story, so photographs serve as both a springboard and an enhancement for my descriptions of my adventures.
