I was an avid photographer in my youth. I went through many SLR s breaking most of them. My subject matter was invariably days hike from civilization. Rough stuff. I think I gave it up (Photography) because developing was too expensive for my modest income. Years passed. I somehow got a phone that had, of all things, a camera on it! The first picture I took on it was of a dusty old black bear in my neighborhood. That did it. Off to the store to buy a real camera. I could not believe the image quality of my first test shot. That was less than a year ago(it is April 08 now). I doubt I will stray again. I love the feeling of turning out a picture that I am satisfied with.

It has been a joy to watch the continued display of new photographic masterpieces posted on flickr by Doug Matheson. Doug has very strong image theory that he applies to each of his photos, and bends the rules in creative ways to get the message across. Many different forms of subject matter are immortalized with effects that enhance the scene, and let us “see” a bit “more”. I will continue to study his outlay of new creations, always looking forward to the next. Tom
