Okay...now that THAT'S out of the way...
I am a self-taught photographer. I have always loved taking pictures as a child and now as an adult. Most of my knowledge of photography has come from just getting out, taking shots and learning from what works and what doesn't. I have recently begun to read more and more with the availability of information on the internet. The best teacher I have had so far is reading the EXIF information on photos that I see here on Flickr and translating it into the settings for photos I take.
My current equipment consists of a Sony A900 DSLR and Sony A350 DSLR bodies, with Sony SAL 28-75 f 2.8, 18-70MM f5.6, Sony SAL75300 75-300mm f4-5.6 lenses. I also occasionally use a Sony HVL-F58AM external flash unit. I know I'm in the minority using Sony equipment, but I've come to really trust the quality and capabilities of the Sony label. I enjoy landscape and nature photography most, using available light, although recently I've begun enjoying some portraiture and event photography, trying to recreate the story through my lens.
I certainly am not what anyone would call a photography purist, since I appreciate the capabilities of editing-software to enhance photos or to create artistic renderings. Depending on the subject and composition of the photo, I tend to lean towards preferring black and white and sepia-toned photos, as well as closeups and shallow DOF. I REALLY like first person perspective shots that pull the viewer into the photo.
I do retain all rights to my photography so please respect that and ask for permission via Flickr Mail if you desire to use anything in my photostream.
If you see something that you like, I would really appreciate your comments as well as your honest, constructive criticism. I want to learn as much as possible about the art of photography and after seeing the magnitude of talent contained within my contacts and on the pages of Flickr, I know that I can be taught much!
If you see something you would like to purchase, please check my other website for availability. If it is not on that site, shoot me a message and I'll upload it! There are several products available through that site that may interest you. Products offered range from small, medium, and large format prints and wrapped canvas to framing, coffee mugs and other gift ideas. Please take a look!

To me, the best thing about photography is getting to be there when the photo happens!
