My name is Doug Heckman and I am running to represent Georgia's 7th District in the US Congress.

I have been living in Norcross with my wife and 3 kids for almost 20 years. I have served in Iraq and Afghanistan and just returned from my third overseas military tour (this one to Iraq) earlier this year. I am very proud of the progress being made there. I consider my run for office now to be an extension of my military service. I would like to introduce myself to the 7th Congressional District as a responsible public servant who is able to effectively tackle complex problems and bring people together in the process.

That is why I am in this race. Not to hold an office but to serve the people of this District with respect and accountability. The central message of my Campaign in 2010 is therefore: Service Before Self.
