I think Lydia's "Blue reflection" was the first of her shots that caught my attention. Then I saw "Dahlia flames," and I was hooked. Visiting her photostream, I am always rewarded by images that reveal her love of the natural world, which is something we share, along with the same camera and, at the time of this writing, a heavy workload. Yet we encourage each other to get out there and shoot, and she invariably turns something ordinary--a flower, a duck, a snowflake (or nine of them), a bench, trees in the fog--into elegant art. Her gull in "Silhouette" is hauntingly beautiful. "A leg to stand on" reveals her sense of humor, her "waterdrops" set might be the best anywhere, and her swallows series is natural history documentary at its finest. Her first year on Flickr has seen not a progression but an expansion, more depth, more breadth, more invention. That we have become fast friends is something for which I will forever be grateful to Flickr. With her discriminating eye, marvelous sense of composition and balance, and skillful post-production enhancement, Lydia will delight and surprise you, so go enjoy her photos! And when she comments on your photos, enjoy how gracious and descriptive and complimentary her words are. She has a gift for both photography and writing, so enjoy both.

Lydia takes the common subject and makes it into uncommon art. Hers are some of the photos I most look forward to seeing on Flickr. Her comments on my pictures are greatly appreciated.

Lydia is one of my favorite photographers. She is so talented at composition, framing, and seeing the impact of color. I love her flowers and birds and never see anything 2nd rate.

Lydia's photographic work continues to grow and amaze me. She may be a writer, but her photos keep getting better and better. An artist in the making here on Flickr.

What can I say about dotlyc that you haven't already noticed yourself. She is full of artistic talent on so many levels. Her work is creative, innovative, imaginative and fascinating. She has this blessed ability to be able to see the world in a truly incredible and breathtaking way. And what I find most wonderful is that she is as beautiful a person on the inside as the beauty that is shown in her photography.

Most all of us upload the cream of our crop.. but.. I must say that what Lydia puts up here is not only likely the cream of Her crop, it's some of the Richest Cream on flickr, ...complete with consistently clean style and intuition and graceful -even sometimes dramatic- Beauty.
