Born in the United States, I love my country even when I think my leaders are wrong (but don't plan to discuss politics or religion here). But I also love that the world (& Flickr) is a multiethnic, multinational, multifaith, multifaceted community with lots of invigorating variety. I'm originally from San Francisco, and have lived in Miami, Florida; Charleston, South Carolina and Colorado Springs & Denver, Colorado; now living in Portland, Oregon. I'm willing to admit that where you live might be even better, and to try not to confuse you with your government, if you'll do the same for me.
Have been a Navy medic, a nurse, a mechanic, and now a computer-using office type. Strictly an amateur photog, since my son was born (1982). Stopped for years after my first SLR (Minolta XG7) was stolen.
Now a little more serious, mostly using — not that it's important — Nikon stuff. I have just gone digital; with my budget, considering my treasured manual focus lenses, I had to wait until I could afford a used D200 (and what a cool tool it is!). Have far to go in image creation skills, but I surely enjoy trying, and it has changed the way I see the world. Also, a working musician, since 1977, playing keyboards (DX-7 MIDI-ed to a modern EMU sampler) and horns (trumpet, flügelhorn, flute and piccolo, mostly).
Finally, thanks for reading all this (I hope you have a bio on your page, too, for me to read).
Cordially,
Don Miller
