I have an off-and-on love affair with the camera over the past few years. I took black and white photography as an elective in college and didn't pick up a camera again until about 4 years ago, thanks to Galeri Petronas' arts workshop program. I met some great teachers, and made some good friends, who all helped inspire and encourage inconsistent little me to persevere. I view myself as a photography hobbyist, but someday I hope to be proud to call myself a real photographer. In the meantime, I hope my pictures give you joy and pleasure. You can always count on Doracell's pictures to be honest and as optimistic as one can get. She captures images to show the essence of the subjects in the most interesting light as possible, be it cheery, tumultuous or sad. As her sister, I may be guilty of some partisanship but as a fellow aspiring amateur photographer (although way, waaay below her calibre), I admire how her personality shines through her photographs - the honesty and optimism. Best at taking close-ups of subjects that are usually bypassed or go unnoticed by the rest of us, she displays an innate talent for picking the right angle to showcase her quiet, unassuming subjects. At the end of the spectrum, she is also very adept at showcasing wide vistas and arresting landscapes. Sister or no sister, this is one shutterbug I will keep an eye on, and I would definitely recommend fellow shutterbugs to do so too!
