There is this delicately creepy and surreal world you can tiptoe into, quietly, because you don’t want these singular, highly-specialized, gossamer creatures to be frightened and run off never to be seen again. These are endangered species that only one man has had the privilege to know intimately. Conor Ryan graciously allows us all to go on a mutant safari with him and his beings with nipple whips and impossible genitalia, and fine lines, and gorgeous draftsmanship, and breathtaking understatedness (drawing with blue ball-point pen on notebook paper), and the kind of imagination and talent that can only make me say, “ConorRyan, would you someday please come to dinner at my house and sit and talk about politics and right and wrong and fantasy, and your idea of a perfect world and lines and what it means to have this kind of keen artistic vision? PLEASE?” My only wish is that he’d grace us all with more, more, more. I’m a CR addict, I admit this here and now with pride.
