Hullo! My name is Laura and I like to make things.

I completed (and loved) everything about my Bachelor of Fine Arts, and am continuing my practice by jumping into different mediums, and playings lots.

I work mainly in encaustics (painting with wax), because it's a brilliant medium.

It's perfectly imperfect in nature, which I enjoy.

Also, the possibilities of working with wax are endless, which allows for a lot of exploration.

(collaging, layering, scraping, carving...)

My favourite quality? The luminous nature of wax, which is enhanced with each layer. These pieces have a natural glow, and depth, that is hard to explain, unless experienced in person.

I also like the fluidity this medium. The wax often looks suspended in motion, as it is pushed around the surface with a heat gun, and hardens.

I work on a hot plate palette, and work with the best quality (and environmentally friendly) materials. Beeswax + R&F handmade encaustic paints.

I learned this art by training with a professional artist.
