Doni was born in New South Wales Australia, he grew up on the South Coast and from a very young age demonstrated a flair for the arts. The son of a jeweller an landscape artist he was exposed to a supply of fantasy art of the likes of Frank Frazetta from a young age. His preschool teachers were requesting paintings of Disney characters that his father had taught him to draw and at school it wasn’t long before every school report contained a mention about his artistic ability.
Known as the artistic boy around town gave Doni opportunities to design and work on murals and publications at school and win local art awards and even get paid for the first time to single handedly paint a 12 metre long mural for a seafood restaurant at age 16.
Pursuing a career in the commercial art seemed like the best discipline for Doni at the end of his secondary studies and he attained a Bachelor of Arts in Design at the UWS in Sydney. Giving him the best exposure in digital and traditional forms of design, photography, illustration and animation it was broad industry that Doni spent the following six years finding his niche. Whilst always being strong in his drawing skills, Doni managed to built a diverse portfolio of work all now culminating into his core strength and passion of illustration.
As inspiring as he is creative to work with Doni is a delight as many of his past co-operatives will attest. No matter how big or small Doni can play a strong strategic part in any communication. His work has appeared in all forms of printed matter from business cards and books to posters and hoardings, press ads, toys and displays. He has illustrated, animated children’s interactive sites and games for the internet. He also creates wall hangable art using a variety of modern pop and traditional techniques that express his own artistic experience from the visual World.
