Environmentalist/Sociologist/Activist, my photography focuses on using nature, architecture, and history to stimulate thinking about the relationship between environment and cultural identity. Based in southern California, when I was working I spent much of my travel time camping and exploring in the rural U.S. West. With retirement, that's changed. While I still spend quite a bit of time exploring the west, I'm now able to make an annual trip to Europe and to also regularly do fly/drive trips re-exploring areas of the Midwest and US east from my past.

A word on my photography.... I would like to be able to take much better pictures and have considered getting better equipment. BUT, my approach in life is one of encouraging ordinary citizens, and particularly working-class citizens, to explore AND to document and share. In keeping with this approach, it seems inappropriate to use expensive equipment or to do a lot of high-tech processing, thus my photography is with a relatively cheap camera and I seldom do any processing other than cropping and minor color adjustment.
