Donabel and Ewen live in a house in a corner of a quieter suburb of a city described as the cul-de-sac of California.

They have two cats, Jewel and Pumpkin who are certain that they rule the house and that humans are just there to please them.

They also have a chocolate lab named Henry, who purrs like a cat.
