I like taking photos as I go through life, because I like taking pictures and because I like to remember the places I've been to and the things I've done. Some of the better ones I post on my flickr photostream so you (and I) can see them here.

One day, I hope to digitise some of my favourite 35mm photos, but I want to do that with the proper kit as I don't see the point in spending the time unless I capture a high-quality scan.

For the time being, the pictures you see here have been taken with my neat little compact digital camera, a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9. I love it for the fact that it fits in a shirt pocket and the battery lasts for ages. For its size, it is a surprisingly nifty and capable little device, but it struggles a bit in low light (and I hate flash photography) and it has a bad habit of clipping highlights (which is partly my fault, as I'm always telling it to over-expose a teensy bit). Meanwhile, I hanker after a better camera. So I keep up the 9-5 job and hope that my soul will stand up to it.
