I’m Jani, not a "photographer" by title, just someone deeply passionate about capturing reality as I see it. My journey began in the late 1990s when Photoshop 5.5 piqued my interest in images. Without photos to edit, I started using disposable cameras. By 2002, I had my first digital camera and have carried one daily ever since.

I'm drawn to documentary-style moments and the beauty of the ordinary, the chaotic, and the imperfect. Photography helped me cope with anxiety and dark times, and it still brings me joy in finding and preserving fleeting moments, lines, humor, and self-irony. My work spans quiet urban scenes, abandoned spaces, nature, pets, people, churches, and abstract series. Themes include urban contrast, forgotten places, silent forests, architectural calm, and playful slices of life.

When photographing people, I often hear that it didn't feel like being photographed at all. What could be uncomfortable often becomes natural or even empowering. I aim to stay invisible behind a small camera and let real moments happen.
