Vienna is a centre of excellence in the area of disarmament and non-proliferation, several global and regional organizations, NGOs, research and educational centres interact offering conference services, workshops, training courses and other events on specific diplomatic, political, legal, technical/scientific, economic, or a combination of these issues for different audiences.

The UNODA Office at Vienna acts as a catalyst among the various actors in Vienna working on disarmament and non-proliferation issues, promoting partnerships and mobilising stakeholders to undertake common interest initiatives and programmes.

The Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (DNP) Education Partnership aims to assemble and tailor curricula on DNP education in Vienna, create an online clearing-house dashboard for training courses and to promote new DNP educational networks, as well as outreach activities. The participation of women in such courses can be facilitated with scholarships, on-the-job mentoring and other career opportunities that elevate their skills to the level of their gender counterparts.

Potential users of this wealth of dynamic educational opportunities find it increasingly difficult to sort out the desired information. There is, therefore, both a need and a demand for creating educational packages providing interdisciplinary courses on topics which can be incorporated in the regular curricula of educational institutions.
