DMS Medical Scientific Expeditions aim to climb at high altitude, to carry out medical research and to encourage the uptake of adventurous training within the United Kingdom Defence Medical Services, thus developing both physical and leadership qualities to enhance operational effectiveness.

Bolivian Venture will be the fourth in a series of medical scientific expeditions led by members of the DMS. Previous highly successful expeditions have taken place to Aconcagua, Island Peak and to Everest Base Camp.

The expedition will take place during June 2012, when climbing conditions in Bolivia are at their most stable. We will be climbing in a relatively unexplored area of the Cordillera Real, attempting a range of routes up to a height of 6104m with potential for exploring new approaches to the mountains.
