I became intensely interested in photography at age 14, and learned and advanced rapidly in pursuit of excellence. I planned to make a career of it, but realized that becoming a professional photographer meant giving up creative control to someone else (the client), and so decided to work in the photo lab industry instead.
I have done Kodachrome processing, as well as E-4, E-6, AR-1, C-22, C-41 at a large photofinishing lab; worked as a printer for a wedding/portrait photographer; did custom color printing at a commercial/industrial photography studio; owned a custom lab for eight years until digital photography supplanted film, and my volume dropped until I couldn't sustain the business.
I became the lab manager at in in house lab for a camera store, where the work is all printed on digital printers, although we still processed film (E-6 and C-41) and can print from many film formats using the built in scanners on the machines.
All along, I have spent some of my limited free time shooting photos, and some of the results of these efforts are posted here.
After working there for 14 years, I recently retired, while doing some freelance shooting, editing, and video work, which should give me more opportunities to go shooting and posting them here.
