It started out as curiosity, how did this old thing work? Why doesn't he use it anymore? Why am I so attracted to it?

 

I picked up my fathers Canon AE-1 with the 50mm f/1.4 sometime in 2006. It intrigued me that this camera was one of my fathers more treasured possessions, yet he never really cared that much for photography. I suppose it was because this was his first luxury purchase after leaving communist China.

 

So I developed a love of imagery. Photography seems to be the way of satisfying my urge to somehow create things that I see, or I feel, and let others see it the way I do. But it's more than that, it makes me happy.

 

Pursuing a career, a profession, a livelihood, while possibly necessary is rather boring. This takes my mind off things, lets me appreciate art (so I feel cultured I guess) and helps me have some sort of goal I keep working towards.

 

I must say it's an expensive hobby, but I yearn to travel and record the images and share them with people regardless. Let me live like a bum, but capture the moment.
