Dirk Jan de Ridder is a published photographer based in the Netherlands. Dirk Jan specialises in military aviation and has worked for armed forces around the world. He is the author of the FLIGHT coffee table book series, he frequently publishes in aviation magazines like AirForces Monthly and Combat Aircraft and has a large following on the internet and social media.

As of March 2026, he has worked with 35 armed forces on 70+ airbases, in 24 countries and on five continents. His flight experience with the military includes flying supersonic fighter jets, ejection-seat equipped training aircraft, gliders, helicopters and transport aircraft during dedicated photo flights as well as regular training flights.
