am so many different things to many different people, so to call myself

jewelry designer seems to me to disregard so many other facets of me and

therefore my inspirations.

I am a human being, woman, mother, wife, grandmother, sister, daughter,

friend, granddaughter, aunt, niece, teacher, student, beadweaver, jewelry

designer, and fellow planet dweller. I knit, knot and crochet. If you ask my

dogs they will tell you I am the Alpha in the pack. Should you question the

cat he‛ll tell you I am the slave. I am each of these things sometimes; I am a

student every moment.

Divella Delights is the name of my business, a name which comes from the 2

names of my youngest granddaughters Diva and Ella, my primary sources of

amusement.

I have no specific sources of inspiration or perhaps more correctly I should

say in everything there is reservoir that inspires and most designs come to

me in that space just before sleep. The gems themselves beg to be applied

to a specific design.

My fascination for making jewelry began in 1985 unbeknownst to me when I

took Sumi-e classes, a form of Chinese Brushpainting. From there I was

lured into Pen and Ink, Watercolor, Pastel and Fiber arts. I suppose all that

happened to give me my lessons in color, perspective, and balance since other

than Sumi-e I have had no formal instruction to speak of. Books. I have read

and studied many books.

I earnestly began making jewelry in 2005 when I decided to add some

beaded embellishments to some wool felted bags I was making. From that

day forward I longed for my studio with all my beads and baubles while at my

day job which I eventually left in 2007.

I have taught what I have learned in giving lessons in my classroom and in

public venues and continue both learning and teaching today.

My favorite quote is by Michelangelo "The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." I have this large and in view in my studio to remind me not to be afraid to explore the ‘what would happen if‛ thoughts when I am working.
