Who am I?

My name is Percita - my mum read the name in a book (a long time ago). Percita is (I believe) an old Spanish word - a diminutive form of peace. That's usually the first conversation I have with people - so I thought I'd start this flickr conversation that way too.

I belong to the most wonderful loving family - that has shaped who I am and how I view the world. I have been raised in the love of God and rejoice in that.

I married a wonderful man who has been my best friend for over 30 years.

I have 3 children - they are all adults now but they continue to bring wander and delight to my life. One of my children has Cerebral Palsy and that has opened my eyes to a different view on the world - hence my interest in electric wheelchair sports. I am in awe of the courage of people with disabilities to prove their ability!

I've been a teacher, a librarian and now I am an IT trainer who dabbles in publishing and writing technical documentation Our focus these days is eLearning using Adobe Captivate .

I love to view the world through a lens - technically I have always struggled to know what I was doing with the camera - late 2012 I did a workshop with Paul Kowalski that has changed all that - I am now learning to be a real photographer who can set up the best shot I know how rather than just look for the magic in a moment and hope for the best . I look for something that draws an emotional response from my soul. Light that shows through the cracks.

I also have a wicked sense of humour - so you have to be tough to survive knowing me!

I love flickr and am constantly amazed and inspired by the awesome photographs I discover there! My family say I am an addict - they are probably right - but I am not giving it up. I have too much to learn!
