I am reading a book about Shanghai and was thrilled to find this wonderful street photographer. These photos provide a fascinating picture of a lively and colorful city. The book is about the Europeans who controlled the city before 1948 and the wealthy Sasoon and Kadoori families who traded and built luxury hotels in Shanghai. The city sheltered 18,000 European Jewish refugees fleeing the Nazis during the Second World War.. Between the book and these photos I feel I know the city and its people.
