On the 24th February we set sail from Bristol Avonmouth on board the Cruise Ship Discovery in Search of the Northern Lights.

I soon realised on the first sighting of this wonderful natural phenomenon that fellow Cruise Guest were not achieving the photographic results they had hoped for. I therefore approached the Ships Cruise Director, Frankie, to ask if we could have a photographer’s get together. He arranged a slot for us in the next Sea Day programme, 28th February in the Bridge Club. I asked if the notice he put out would attract all levels of photographer and all types of camera user.

His notice in the Daily Programme certainly work as over 100 Guest arrived and we were searching for chairs from everywhere. Hence the Discovery Camera club was formed. We met on a further three occasions sharing pictures on ideas and held a competition on the Final Day of our cruise.

The Day was a great success with entries in all categories and winners from phone pics through to Digital SLRs.
