My first SLR (and real camera) was a Minolta 400si. I mostly used it on automatic as I did not want to waste precious and pricey film. I don't think I truly appreciated what I had until I lost it on the way to the airport about 8 years ago.

After that I delved into digital point and shoot land until this year. Olympus Camedia something or other 1.3 meg, Nikon Coolpix 4500 4 meg, Samsung Digimax S800 8 meg, etc... until I couldn't take it anymore!

I now have an Olympus OM-1 MD, with a 50mm/1.8 lens, which I absolutely love. It was the world's first compact, all-mechanical SLR that debuted in 1972, but mine is from about 1976, as it has the Motor Drive coupling. It is in mint condition mechanically and aesthetically. Not a single scratch on the chrome or sign of wear on the leather. It works just as well as it looks and my manual focus skills are slowly improving, but I still find it challenging to get right, especially when snapping on the move in the street. I have no problems getting exposures right just following the needle

My other tool is a Panasonic Lumix-DMC FZ28, which is an awesome point and shoot "super-zoom" bridge camera, with a ridiculous 18x zoom lens that can image the moons of Jupiter. No joke, check my gallery.

Oddly enough I shoot most of my photos with the camera on my T-Mobile G1 Android phone simply because it's always in my pocket. It is my "lifestreaming" tool. I also use an Android application called FxCamera which has Toy Cam, Polaroid, and other effects modes. I prefer the Toy Cam mode, which along with some desaturation in post, looks pretty cool in that low-fi sort of way.
