There are many reasons why I like Shawn's work----composition, clear sense of environment, fearless, etc. Yet, I think what I appreciate the most about Shawn's work is that it both honest and earnest. His work and style shows a real dedication to the task of connecting with other people, which often is a hallmark of a compelling people driven documentary photography. He isn't afraid to get close to the people who's stories he is exploring and yet still expresses them with a measure of dignity. This kind of balance is often difficult particularly when documenting the lives of the less understood. I will continue to follow Shawn's work.
