What's In A Name?
DIO- Dionysus, the only Greek god to have a mortal parent, Semele, wife of Zeus. Dionysus is the god of the harvest, of grapes, of winemaking and fertility. His diametrically opposed abilities of bringing extreme joy and ecstasy OR instilling rage and madness mimic the distinct skills of wine.
NEP- Neptune, brother of Zeus, uncle of Dionysus, god of the Sea and Earthquakes. Possessing relentless persistence (as in the courting of the sea nymph, Amphitrite), his Three-pronged Trident offers interpretations to fit: Birth/Life/Death; Mind/Body/Spirit; Past/Present/Future.
SOC- Socrates, the Father of Modern Philosophy, whose words were spoken through Plato and then, Aristotle. "True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world."
DIONEPSOC seeks to acquire the characteristics of the Trilogy, most notably, the persistent attempt to bring images of life from which there was no life, to view these maddening images with joy and exploration, and to know that the process is never-ending and self-fulfilling.
