You know how there are mostly-routine things that you look forward to on a daily basis, that add expectation and hope and happiness to life in its ordinary flow? Things like going to the mailbox to see what's there after the mailman has stopped by, for example, or checking the morning sky for clouds or rain and its clues for what the rest of the day will be like? Flickr's e-mail notifications that "current classics" has posted new photos are right up there with my mailbox and my morning sky now in the happy anticipation department, and have been for a couple of years. Demitria's photos are valuable to me for several reasons, but the most important of them, to me, is that they are just flat-out fun to look at. Beyond their significant entertainment value, though, they never fail to teach me something about how to view things around me and how to try to capture those things' inherent captivation. (The concept of "capturing captivation" can make your head hurt if you think about it too much, so maybe you shouldn't!) She hits me most strongly with her images in three general areas: instantaneous images of life on the street in a modest-sized American city, closeups (macros) of flowers, and pets' images (especially, but not exclusively, of her cats.) While all of her work is worth spending time with, it's the last -- her cats portraits -- that is supreme. I have lived with many cats during my six decades here, and had always thought that there are just two ways to stroke a cat to give pleasure to both of us: in the same direction as the fur's grain (petting) or against it (scritching, best done around the jawline). Demitria has shown me that there is a third way: loving captures with a camera lens. And she shows it frequently, technically superbly, beautifully... ... and, most importantly, lovingly.

I wasn't really a flower person, but I can't help but thoroughly enjoy her wonderful eye for this subject. She is very skilled in her use of vibrant colors and composition and a touch of humor. :)

She has a passion about photography and cats. I do too. However D has the abillity to capture one out of their nine lives with her lense. I can't do that and I am jealous... She is one of my favorite flickr friends. I like her philosophy and I love her comments. She is intelligent, beautiful, educated and kind.

A stream of life flows in the Currentclassic's album! I love her attention to detail and her ability to depict circumstances. Her camera freezes precious moments, a wing's beat, a glance... and managing any subject with the same poetry, a car as a flower... I love her photostream and the positive energy it gives to… Read more
