Digital Idiot Savant

Have you come across someone who can only perform their job or their studies because of the technology they are using? I fear we are reaching a stage in both education and commerce where we are so dependant on technology that we are creating a generation of people who can only appear intelligent or competent when they are supported by technology. They trust the technology more than they trust their own judgment or common sense. We have created what I term "The Digital Idiot Savant".

A person who lacks the very basic skills and understanding required to perform a task but who can appear to be competent performing that task when they use technology; except their lack of basic skills and understanding in the domain means they trust the technology more than they trust their own judgment or common sense.
