These are some of my latest stats - Quelques statistiques

I've been taking pics for AGES although I wasn't there yet when the Lumière brothers started takin' theirs.
Started with a Russian 35mm in the 60's (cheap was the word with my limited means) and moved up and down the scale with Nikon, Mamiya, Canon cameras. Currently use Canon Rebel XT with 18-55, 28-80, 70-300 and a newly acquired (August '08) Sigma 170-500mm lenses as my main gear. Also bought a Canon SD1000 as a "just quick shots" camera. It takes out of this world shots - really.
I'm far from being an artist but I do love the medium.
Posting on Flickr allows me to share with like-minded people and improve my technique as well.
Thanks to Schmap for selecting this shot as a post card representing Montreal.

Though I know Jean-Marc only from Flickr and have never met him in real life (no wonder, since we live continents and oceans apart), I feel we share a very similar view about *Life, Universe and Everything*. It's a pleasure to see, there still are open-minded, clear-thinking people in this muddled, befuddled, consumption-oriented world, where lies, half-truths and cock-and-bull stories are much preferred to the hard facts and substantiated evidence, and where people thinking with their own heads are a dying breed. Besides being a fellow geek, he's also an outstanding photographer - versatile in every circumstance. His photos, whether of landscape, animals, people or street-shots are all little stories in themselves.

I can't remember the first time I came across Digit-Ized's work, but I do remember being struck with awe when I saw his picture of the little girl holding a puppy. In this one capture he caught pure, sweet joy and the very essence of the tactile warmth of life that makes me tick. I became a fan and an admirer. He claims to not be an artist, but I beg to differ. When I view his pictures... I see art. I find him inspirational and I try to emulate his use of this medium. We are in a couple flickr groups together and whether we chat in a group discussion or he leaves a comment on one of my pictures, I am always left touched by his kindness and warmth. I peruse his photostream, comment on his work and try to get to know him a little better... Someone who finds this much beauty in life is someone I want to know! I would gladly share a bottle of wine with you Digi!

I met Jean-Marc when he added me to his contact list (which is pretty short compared to other flickr-uses) and sent me a mail, that he liked the way I describe myself ("not much to say about me, except I'm glad and love my family"). This was so stunning for me, that I really was thinking a lot about him. It's a seldom gift to find someone who understands this way to look at yourself, who understands this kind of statement. Soulmates are rare. He is a great photographer, and he knows that, but he would never admit that. This is the part of his personality I love. Glad I met you, Jean-Marc.
