I trained in photography at Blackpool Art School from '69 but with music and hi-fi being my other passions, I ended up with a career in high-end audio retail with photography becoming a hobby.

I started working on a Mac SE computer (B&W, 9" screen) in '87 doing advertising and marketing for my employer, Norman Audio Limited. It was pretty much 'duck to water' with the Mac and I developed design, illustration and layout skills. I think the Mac spent more time at my home than it did at work.

In '92 I bought my own computer, a Mac LC II, and I started trading as digiSET, working in the evenings and at weekends. My clients included several local printers and some businesses which needed creative design and print work. I ended up with a contract to draw hundreds of town centre and hospital maps - the large ones with the adverts round them. It was not long before my part-time work was earning more than my full-time and I ended my retail career.

During the '90's I was both learning and teaching. One of my clients was a typesetting house (AMA Graphics) and I was fortunate to have the opportunity to train in traditional typesetting skills and text book design and production. On the teaching side, I trained some of the staff in 'Mac skills' at a couple of local printers and at a high street print/copy shop (Kall Kwik).

digiSET has grown from strength to strength and under that heading I work with a small group of creative friends who collaborate on projects as appropriate. I do almost all of digiSET's Mac work using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, FileMaker Pro and other applications.

In recent years photography has started to play an increasing role for me and two of my clients' web sites which feature many of my photographs are:

Transitional Plus Care and Windmill Animal Farm.

Feel free to have a look at my photostream and the digiSET web site and if you want to enquire about the services that digiSET offers please contact me by email.
