Photography has always been an interest to me. I started out with an Olympus OM-1 35mm film camera that my father gave to me. I have had several other P&S cameras over the years, some film and some digital.

Still having the Olympus OM-1, I was able to take pictures with the SLR when needed, but given the expense of converting the 35mm film to hi-res images, I made the decision that it was time to move to a Digital SLR.

I recently purchased two cameras:

1. Point and Shoot: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 which I purchased for family use because it has great image stablization and a 10x optical zoom. I have been very pleased with this camera. The Simple Mode that has gotten my wife to start taking pictures.

2. Digital SLR: Nikon D200 with the 18-200 VR Zoom which has had so many positive reviews. I just love this camera, though it is going to take a while for me to get comfortable with it as it has been years since I have done any real picture taking with an SLR.

I hope over time my ability to produce quality images increases to the level of so many fantastic phtographers on Flickr.

Now that I have good equipment, I just need learn as much as I can about photography and take tons of pictures to build on my skills.

Since my son has taken an interest in photography as well, this will be something that we can do together.
