Artist Statement:
In each of my photos there's a story of exploration, drive, and adventure. Photography to me is sort of different. I don’t really have an interesting story or really deep underlying meaning behind each photo. Each one is just my own interpretation of how I see something and how I really view things in general. I don’t really see myself as an “artsy” kind of person and never really intended on taking four semesters of photography, but I found out sort of an outlet for me to capture how I see things, and began to grow an enjoyment for it. Part of my enjoyment for taking pictures took me back to being younger and having that drive to explore and venture around foreign places. When people look at my work I want them to feel that adventure I originally had when the photo was taken. My goal is for people to see past the obvious and see more than just a beautiful sunset or a rundown building accompanied by a couple of defiant teenagers. My work is based around adventure and exploration and the whole notion of being a teenager and being free from most responsibilities we’re forced to take on in life. My portfolio reflects my last bout with this “senior in high school” thing; knowing that the freedom is soon to be ending. As the curtains close on my high school career I wanted to mark my favorite part of these last four years, being a kid, being young, and having little worries or responsibilities.
