Just a geek who enjoys photography and the satisfaction it provides when you capture an image you love and can share.

Fellow Flickr users and visitors, a few notes about how I interact on this site:

If I fav or comment on your photos, I liked it or it sparked my imagination for genuine reasons. I don't just fav to fav. I will go on runs when I post new stuff but that is largely because it is those times that I'm active in the community. Yes, I would like you to take a look at my photos too, maybe we have something in common, but I'm not holding anyone too that.

Likewise, If I follow you, it's because something about your stream inspires me and I want to be able to see it for enjoyment and inspiration in my own work.

If you comment on my photos I will almost always take a look at your stream, but I will only like or follow for the above reasons. It doesn't mean you don't have some great photos, but I generally stick to following streams that I get a kick out of. Occasionally I'll follow weird stuff just because it provides me with unique ideas.

I will respond to genuine feedback even if it's just a couple words, but I will mostly ignore "copypasta" comments that people tend to post in bulk.

I will ignore and in many cases delete comments and invites for award and "post X like Y" groups.

Participate, engross yourself in the work of others and the inspiration that can bring to your life. Share your photos and stories, don't be afraid to ask for feedback, and most of all - DFTBA - don't forget to be awesome.

State of flickr rant and call to the community:

I post most of my best/favorite photos on Flickr because despite all its faults, it's the only platform left that allows for photography for photography's sake, not just an ad/algorithm platform. I do miss the days that this site was more welcoming to photographers of all skill levels, providing comments, feedback, and advice to each other, encouraging regional meetups, etc. There is no place else I have found which does that, but flickr still has the toolset to do so, and it's just a matter of the community being willing to make use of those tools - and to be genuine with each other.

I had more contacts and relationships on this site at one point, but unfortunately taking several years off taking, processing, and posting photos due to life and depression means I lost a lot of those contacts, some of whom sadly gave up on photography out of frustration with the online communities and the mindless selfish cycles the insta-world created (and now AI slop) - and in many cases even ruined many of our favorite real life locations due to people's behaviors. I hope at some point to find some new friends among the noise.
