This is an edit from one of Rachel's best friends, capriana:

Rachel disappeared from her home on January 19th with her best friend (also named Rachel). For two weeks, parents, friends, and family racked their minds and hearts for possible places that they might be. State and county police headed parties in search of them, and national forces were alerted to the cause.

In some ways, we all blame ourselves for what happened. I know I do. I know that most of us, her friends at least, called them a million times, leaving messages of all sorts, scraping the bottom of the barrel, sifting through every little subliminal message in our memories for some kind of clue. Any kind of clue. Those two weeks were two of the worst weeks of our lives. But they were nothing compared to the hell that followed.

On February 2nd, 2007; word came that the two of them had been found. The coroner reported that they had died of carbon monoxide poisoning, and that the key was in the 'on' position. They were gone. They wanted to be gone. And none of us could do a thing about it. It's all I can do now to perpetuate her work. Rachel was a beautiful soul. And I think that all of us owe it to her to at least show our respect.

So, please, I compel you, take a look at her photography, know her now, even if you didn't know her when you could. Know her through her art. Know her through her love. Know her through her photography.

Love is like Pi: natural, irrational, and very important.
