Born and brought up in Worksop, my youth largely misspent in a not terribly interesting (to me then) part of the world. Colin Gifford's books of railway photography paradoxically, lose pre-adolescent interest in trains and become interested in photography . His with photographs had raised the bar substantially beyond the 'snapshot', to art, with context, composition and an artistic genius brought to bear.

Like many 'Worksopians', a teacher called Wilfred Salmon, was an early mentor - giving penniless schoolboys some old but serviceable cameras, and out of date film. He repaid curiosity with generosity, a brilliant man. 40 years then spent with various formats of film, together with the darkroom processes has proved a good preparation for the embracing of digital photography.

The portfolio is wide ranging, particular interests are architecture, travel and cities, railways (photogenic, continental), transport and 60's/ '70's lorries, sculpture, and the ongoing development of a photographic language. More and more I want to see, and less time available to do it - as I get older!

I am happy for like minded photographers to follow me, and whose work is also available me to look at and enjoy. I especially welcome the attention of those photographers, who are willing to share their own pictures.
