Amateur photographer who takes photographs for joy of it.
My personal rules for photography are,
1, Shoot for the fun of it. Don't take yourself too seriously.
2, Use the equipment you can afford.
If you can't take good photographs with an inexpensive camera, you'll only take higher quality bad photos with an expensive one. Remember, some of the most remarkable photographs in history were taken with some of the most unremarkable cameras.
2. Don't back yourself into a corner by comparing your photos with those of others. It is easy to become intimidated and discouraged by comparing your work to that of others. There will always be someone who is "better" than you.
3. Learn from others, but don't imitate them. Be creative, develop your own style. Not everyone wil like your photographs, but that is OK.
4. Encourage other photographers.
I am also passionate about preserving old family photographs and sharing them with other family members so they don't become nameless faces over time. Flickr is a wonderful way of sharing family photographs with others.
