In this way her images each read like good mystery stories, well-crafted and built upon subtle uncertainties. Yet the mysteries Carrie draws us into are not cold and calculated. Her characters—be these sleeping children, thoughtful women, or arching rail lines—are filled with an unpredictable energy. I find myself looking again, taking that second glance, to enjoy the talent and the tantalization of her work.
