Photographer and Painter in Acrylic medium
I am a freelance photographer and owner of “Oakhaven Images by Deepak” based in Oakville, ON. Canada.
As an image maker or photographer, I “CAPTURE MEMORY THAT CAN BE FOREVER”
I am a very creative person, so from grade school I started my acrylic painting which I have carried on to date. I have a body of paintings some of them are gifted to friends and family. To expand my creativity, I took up photography as an extension to my painting.
Each one of us has an encouraging story and I genuinely think that photographers do as well. I had a reason I to choose taking pictures as my hobby and a path to led me to photography!
I have always believed “A picture lets us transform our feelings, moods and ideas into something tangible no matter what experiences we have or simply put; a picture is worth 1000 words”.
I started my photography journey with a simple point and shoot film camera in 1981 and have captured many important life events of our life. Events like our wedding to birth of children, work, vacations and more. My family and friends call me the keeper of all and everything photographs. I love taking photographs or images and it has been an enjoyable roller-coaster ride and my passion for capturing important moments only gets deeper as each year goes by.
After moving to Oakville, I enrolled in “Photography Fundamentals” and in 2007 I graduated in the course from Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, Oakville. With work and family, I was not able to give much time to my photography but even then, every time there was an opportunity I picked up the camera and was ready to make. Events like birthdays, family engagement, family weddings, picnics, even volunteered for non-profit organization.
I have photographed all the Oakville, Burlington and Mississauga beaches along the lake shore many times and also the trails and ponds give me lots of flora, fauna, fall and spring to photograph, so glad to call Oakville my home.
In 2018 and again in 2024 I had an opportunity to be the photographer for the Run4Lighthouse fundraiser in Oakville and was a very rewarding experience. The event was organized to support Lighthouse for Grieving Children and Families, and it was a delightful experience with fun activities for all ages.
Again in 2019 I was a volunteer photographer for Parkinson SuperWalk Oakville, another fulfilling event since my mother was a Parkinson patient.
I have also been a volunteer photographer for 2022 and 2023 for a local Cambridge, Ontario organization fund raising event to build a Temple in Cambridge, Ontario.
We have travelled to Western Canada – Banff, Algonquin Provincial Park in fall, Caribbean Islands, Hawaii, Italy, France, Tanzania and India. Made many unique photographs, that I can cherish and relive for the rest of our lives.
After retiring from work I consider photography a good break from everyday routine life. A perpetual that does not hold any pressure, has no deadlines, and needs no extra investment if none is desired. As an introvert, it has aided me immensely to get me out of my shell without having to follow others. Photography has helped me find fresh perspectives in the things I have experienced. I am often fascinated by how with just the click I can turn ordinary to extraordinary! Photography has been a very introspective and attentive experience for me, a relaxing hobby that is done for me and my personal creativity.
Even though I am an eternal student of photography always eager to learn and exchange ideas with fellow photographers. Over the years I have understood the photography equipment, I started adding the proper equipment, including couple cameras, a few prime, zoom and telephoto lenses, flash, tripods, un ipods etc.
